It is with profound sadness and aching hearts that we share the passing of our beloved William Torres, Jr., who peacefully left us on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, in Westchester County, NY.
William was a devoted father to Tristan and Leah, and a loving and dedicated husband to Florence. They recently celebrated 30 years of marriage, but their love affair went back to their teenage years.
William is also survived by his father, William Torres Sr., his devoted mother-in-law Joan Carney, his siblings Ada “Iris” and Raul, as well as his nieces, nephews Reinaldo “Jimmy” Jr., Jasmin, Angie, Bethania, Ayleen, Zavian, Ovanny, Jessica, and all his great nephews and nieces as well.
There is a gaping hole now where he was, but they take solace he is at peace and no longer suffering.
After courageously fighting diabetes and related illnesses stemming from the disease for many years, Will has found eternal rest, reunited with his cherished mother, Iris Vasquez, and his dear brothers, Ismael, Jose, and Reinaldo “Jimmy.” Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort knowing he is no longer in pain and is surrounded by those who went before him.
Will touched so many lives within both his family and Florence’s, as well as beyond with Boy Scouts (Troop 1 Pelham), friend groups and extension of those groups as well. Their love for each other was fully apparent and never wavered for over 30 years; this seemed to naturally draw folks to them. He was loved beyond compare. He had sharp humor, insane knowledge of trivia and current events, and unwavering determination and strength.
The family would like to extend thanks to Will’s extensive medical care teams throughout the years, from kidney, to heart, to vascular, to podiatry and more; too many to list here. They’d especially like to extend heartfelt and grateful thanks to Dr. Saleem Mir, who helped Will (or “Bill” as Dr. Mir called him) navigate every difficult medical path. Dr. Mir was a dedicated and unwavering advocate as his primary physician for over 26 years.
Gifted in the arts, Will studied at the School of Art & Design when he lived in NYC/Bronx and went on to receive his Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from the prestigious Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Will worked as a patent illustrator, a graphic designer, and finally a home contractor and craftsman throughout his lifetime. He took immense pride in every project he took on. He was meticulous, though not fast – as his ongoing health issues impacted his ability to work steadily.
As we navigate this difficult time, we invite you to join us in celebrating the beautiful life he lived and the lasting impact he had on all who knew him. May our sadness turn to a solemn but joyful peace as we accept that he is indeed at peace now. No more dialysis or surgeries, no more appointments or prescriptions, no more IVs, needles, draining, poking and prodding, testing, scraping, treatments, and no more hospital stays. All burdens lifted from his exhausted soul. We ask that you celebrate his strength, humor, commitment, and love with us during the times listed below.

In honoring Will's memory and his brave battle with kidney failure and heart disease, the
family kindly requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Heart

Will's heart, and your contributions will help others facing similar challenges.
We are deeply grateful for your love, prayers, and support during this incredibly difficult
time. Your presence and memories of Will mean more to us than words can express.
With all our love and appreciation,
Florence, Tristan, and Leah
