Vito DeBellis of White Plains, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2024, at the age of 75 in Bronxville, NY. Born on July 5, 1948, in Mt. Vernon, to Raffaela Dalbis and raised by Elvira Dalbis “Nanny”, Vito lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a commitment to the education and growth of young people. Vito's life was shared with his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Tuttle DeBellis, with whom he built a family that includes his proud children, Vito Paul (Noelle), Lori, and Scott (Roseanne). His legacy continued to flourish through the lives of his adored grandchildren, Vito Angelo, Nicholas, Nicolette, Hunter, Raeona, Domenic, and Mia. Each of them brought him immense joy and pride, and he cherished every moment spent in their company. After honorably serving in the US Army, Vito dedicated 30 years to the Yonkers School System, where his passion for education left an indelible mark on countless young lives. He concluded his esteemed career at Saunders School upon retirement in 2002. Vito's contributions to the community extended beyond the classroom as he made a significant impact on the lives of students through his love of coaching, earning the affectionate nickname "Coach D."
