Thomas C Accordino

Thomas C Accordino, 71, of Mount Vernon, NY, passed away peacefully on November 11th, 2025. Thomas is predeceased by his daughter, Linda. Thomas is survived by his wife of 44 years, Diane, his son, James, and his sister, Maryann. Thomas was born and raised in the Bronx, attending St. Ann School, Mount Saint Michael Academy, and SUNY Maritime College. Shortly after college, Thomas moved to Mount Vernon where he raised his family. Thomas spent the early years of his career in the maritime industry, then worked in security until his retirement. Thomas had numerous hobbies and interests. He played the harmonica. He was an avid woodworker; he particularly enjoyed making small, intricately detailed keepsake gifts. He was renowned among family and friends for his annual Christmas crafts, with a highly anticipated new design every year. Thomas also enjoyed collecting and restoring old 19th-century and 20th- century glass bottles; one of his larger woodworking projects was a backlit display case for his bottle collection which is the centerpiece of the living room to this day. Thomas was also a talented cook. He enjoyed baking pretzels to share with family and friends, loved to make pasta from scratch, and was never afraid of experimenting with new recipes. Thomas was also an avid walker; he once racewalked the New York City Marathon, and had previously participated in The Great Saunter around Manhattan. Additionally, Thomas was an experienced kayaker. He loved being on, in, or near the water, especially on the Long Island Sound near New Rochelle and the Bronx. He was once spotted on the water by a Journal News photographer on a notably warm October day. He was quoted as saying it was the latest in the season that he had taken the kayak out. Later in life, Thomas became a member of the Touring Kayak Club of City Island. Visiting hours will be Sunday, November 16th from 2pm-6pm at Yannantuono Burr Davis Sharpe Funeral Home in Mount Vernon. A funeral mass will be held on Monday, November 17th at Sts. Peter & Paul and St. Ursula Church in Mount Vernon.
