In Loving Memory of Sandra Haji-Ahmed
It is with deep sorrow that we remember and honor the life of Sandra Haji-Ahmed, a distinguished colleague, friend, mentor, and coach. She passed away on 26 February 2025 after an illness.
Sandra is survived by her husband, Abdillahi Haji-Ahmed; son, Kamal, and Daughter Halima. She is pre deceased by her daughter Narura. Sandra was a devoted wife and mother.
With over 30 years of experience, Sandra held pivotal roles at the United Nations and UNICEF, where she guided diverse teams and shaped global policies in talent management and organizational development. She retired from the UN Secretariat in 2011 as Director of Learning and Development in the Office of Human Resources Management. In her retirement, she continued her lifelong passion for education, mentoring, and leadership by working as an adjunct professor, consultant, and professional coach.
Beyond her professional achievements, Sandra will be remembered most for her warmth, insight, and infectious joy. She always had a big smile and was full of laughter, bringing light and positivity to every space she entered. Her ability to uplift others—whether through her wisdom, encouragement, or humor—left a lasting impact on all who knew her. Her unwavering belief in human potential, the power of collaboration, continuous learning, and thoughtful leadership will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
May she rest in peace.
