Rosaria Simone was born on February 22, 1939 in Acri, Calabria, Italy to the late Luigi Celico and Rosa Algieri. She came to America in 1967. She lived in Mount Vernon, NY all her life.
She married her husband Francesco in 1970. They were blessed with two wonderful children, Joseph and Rosa Maria. She worked at the Gioffe candy company, Kulca company and then at Our Lady of Victory school as a lunch monitor and later as a pre-k assistant.
Her priority was her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She had a passion for cooking. On holidays, she’d cook and bake for her family. She especially loved spending time with her beautiful grandchildren, Briana and Giovanni, who sweetly called her Nonna.
Rosaria is survived by her husband of 54 years, Francesco, her children, Joseph and Rosa Maria and son-in-law Antonio, her grandchildren, Briana and Giovanni, who she adored so much. She’s survived by her sisters, Teresa and Assunta, brothers Salvatore and Michele, any many nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by her two brothers Angelo and Giuseppe.
She was a genuine person with a heart of gold. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
