ROSA DE JESUS VIDAL DOS REIS

Rosa De Jesus Vidal Dos Reis, born on May 12, 1928, in Fermentelos, Portugal, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on September 2, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of José and Flavia De Jesus Vidal, one of seven siblings and the cherished wife of Antonio Pires Dos Reis, who predeceased her on October 13, 2014.

In the Fall of 1967, Rosa, along with her husband and two young daughters, embarked on a brave journey to the United States in search of a brighter future. Despite arriving in Mount Vernon, NY, without knowing any English, her indomitable spirit and steadfast determination shaped a new chapter of her life and that of her family’s in a new country.  Always at the ready, Rosa was a reliable and excellent employee at Richter Metal Craft for over 20 years.  She worked hard, and in partnership with her husband, they persevered through tough times and built a prosperous life for themselves, their daughters and grandchildren. 

Rosa is survived by her two daughters, Maria Salome Duarte (Joao) and Flavia Maria De Sousa (Armando). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Janice Duarte, David Duarte, Flavia Sofia De Sousa Brown (Kyle), and Erica Rose De Sousa Tracy (Zach). Her family remembers her as a pillar of strength and love, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone she met.  

A devout and resilient woman, Rosa’s legacy lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her unwavering love, her courage in the face of many challenges, and her commitment to her family will forever be cherished and remembered.

May she rest in peace, and may her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.
