Rocco Di Pietro Obituary

Rocco Di Pietro, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 18, 2026, in Mount Vernon, New York, at the age of 68. Born in Morra De Sanctis, Province of Avellino, Italy, on September 14, 1957, Rocco was a man whose life was a testament to hard work, dedication to family, and a love for the simple pleasures in life.Rocco's journey to America began in 1973 when he arrived with his father, Vincenzo Di Pietro. They were later joined by his mother, Angela Braccia, and brother, Gerardo, in 1974. Then in 1979 married his wife Maria which he bought back to America with him,to start their life together. Although he started life anew in a foreign country, Rocco never lost the essence of his Italian heritage, which he cherished until his last day. He became a respected member of the plumbing and heating industry, working for the same company for over 40 years. Even on weekends, he could be found working alongside his father and brother in landscaping, a trade that kept him connected to the earth and his roots.Rocco's personal life was filled with joyous milestones. He was a loving husband to his wife, Maria, and a proud father to his two sons, Vincenzo,(his wife Maria), and Nicola. His joy multiplied with the birth of his two granddaughters, Isabella and Valentina, whom he adored and spoiled with affection. Rocco is also survived by his brother, Gerardo, and his wife, Francesca, along with his nieces, Gerardina and Diana. His family circle extended to his in-laws, Angela and Vincenzo Pennella, and numerous cousins from the Braccia, Di Pietro, and Pennella families, who will all hold his memory dear.Rocco's Christian faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and providing comfort in times of need. His interests were a reflection of his love for his heritage and his family. He was an avid follower of Serie A soccer, and he cherished the times spent playing Italian card games with friends. Rocco took great pleasure in maintaining his home, always finding something to improve or repair, often while watching his favorite shows like "This Old House" and various cooking channels. His culinary skills were most evident in the kitchen, where he would lovingly prepare sauce with his family, a tradition that brought everyone together.A man of simple tastes, Rocco's happiness was found in the laughter of his grandchildren, the camaraderie of calling and playing with them, and the contentment of watching Italian television channels. He treasured the moments spent talking and having espresso with his brother, where they would reminisce about their childhood in Italy and share stories of their new lives in America.Rocco Di Pietro lived a life rich with the experiences of two worlds, the Old World of Italy and the New World of America. He bridged them with grace, bringing the warmth of his Italian upbringing to the diverse tapestry of his adopted homeland. His legacy is one of love, hard work, and the importance of family—a legacy that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Rocco will be profoundly missed, but the memories he created will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to his family and friends.
