Robert W. Johnston

Robert W. Johnston passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Jan 19 after a long life and a brief illness. He is survived by his wife of 68-1/2 years, Marjorie T. Johnston (Fay), his daughters Debra Johnston, Karen Dillulio, both of Mt. Vernon, Kathy McKee of Huntington, LI, and niece Cindy Roberto of Greenwich, Ct.  He was a 65+ year resident of Mt. Vernon.  Bob served proudly in the U.S. Coast Guard and retired from the New York Railroad and Westchester County Water Dept in 1990.  His retirement allowed him to enjoy his grandchildren, Nicholas and Julian DeGouveia and Julia and Ryan McKee.  Both DeGouveia grandsons graduated from Sts. Peter & Paul, and “Grandpop” enjoyed hundreds of hours of practice and games for Mt Vernon Little League, Sts. Peter & Paul basketball, bowling and hockey.  He is survived by lots of nieces and nephews.  He will be sorely missed and warmly remembered.  Services will be held at Yannantuono Funeral Home 584 Gramatan Ave Mt Vernon NY 10552 Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at Sts Peter & Paul Church at 11am.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
