Robert D'Avanzo Obituary

Robert "Bob" D'Avanzo, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on September 30, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on July 27, 1940, in Mt Vernon, New York, to the late Joseph and Jean D'Avanzo.

Bob's life was marked by his unwavering passion for sports and his commitment to nurturing the talents of young athletes. As a former member of the Atlantic Coast League, he played with vigor for the Westchester Bulls and Westchester Crusaders football organizations. His legacy, however, was truly cemented as "Coach Bob," a title that spoke to his mentorship and the profound impact he had on the lives of countless individuals both on and off the field.

Bob's love for the game was rivaled only by his devotion to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Patti Kops D'Avanzo, his children, Glenn and Linda D'Avanzo, and Deron and Kandice D'Avanzo. His joy was multiplied with the birth of his grandson, Dante D'Avanzo. Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Ginievra Caruso.

An avid collector and enthusiast, Bob was known as Mickey Mantle's #1 fan, a title he wore with pride. His extensive collection of baseball cards was a testament to his love for the sport, and had a passion for old American cars.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Wounded Warriors in Bob's name.
