Rita Roque of Mt Vernon passed away on November 20, 2023. She was born in Mt. Vernon on July 13, 1931, to Antonio and Amalia Pucillo. Rita was the beloved wife of John J. Roque for sixty-one years, the loving mother of John and his wife Nicole Roque, and Michele Roque and her husband Kamel Tarazi; the cherished grandmother of John, Samuel, Luke, Mark, Carmella, Jasmine, and Maleia; and sister of Carmela and her husband Michael Blaise (both deceased), Dusolina Pucillo (deceased), Louis and his wife Dorothy Pucillo (both deceased), Josephine and her husband James Franzese (both deceased), Emilio and his wife Josephine Pucillo (both deceased), Anthony and Merilyn Pucillo (both deceased), and Peter Pucillo and his wife Catherine. Rita was a grandmother to seven, four boys and three girls.
Rita worked in the City of Mount Vernon her entire life. Genung’s, on 4th Avenue, Lincoln School, and then City Hall – Recreation Department and, most notably, as Secretary to Civil Service. She worked at City Hall for more than 30 years.
She had a smile and a kind word for everyone and will be greatly missed.
