Pierina Gerardi, who recently celebrated her 78th birthday, passed away suddenly on December 1st, 2020. She was born in Avella, Avelino Italy on November 19, 1942. She was 1 of 4 sisters born to Pellegrina Davanzo. She was married to her now deceased husband Antonio and had the fortune of immigrating to the United States in 1968. They had 1 child on April 15th, 1972 named Elio. They settled in Mount Vernon, NY and spent the rest of their lives there instilling the values in the friends and family that only a very few can appreciate now a days. She was a very devoted mother and worked hard as a seamstress in the garment industry during the 70s,80s and 90s. She always made sure that the family had a home cooked meal on the table even after a long day’s work. She learned to speak English and studied and passed the test to become a United States citizen of which made her very proud. Her joy in life was to cook and sew and she spent many happy days in her kitchen cooking delicious authentic Italian foods from scratch and sewing garments on her own sewing machine Many fond memories were made of her making ravioli by hand. They will be truly missed. Her two grandchildren Antonio and Gabriella were her beating heart and she loved to spend as much time as possible making them happy. She is preceded in death by her only son Elio Gerardi who is married to Liz Gerardi and she will forever be the loving grandmother to Antonio and Gabriella Gerardi. God Bless her soul and rest in peace mom.
