Nicole Rizzo Obituary

Nicole Marie Rizzo, affectionately known as Niki to her loved ones, passed away on Aug 18th unexpectantly at Mount Sinai NYC at the young age of 52.

Nicole was born in Poughkeepsie, NY 7/22/1973.  She was a proud graduate of Arlington HS in 1992.  She attended Dutchess Community College following HS.

Nicole spent many years working in a nursing home in Dutchess County where she loved caring for the elderly.  She would laugh, sing and dance with them and bring them joy daily.

Nicole later went on to pursue a career in emergency medical services.  She worked as an EMT with Philipstown EMS.  This became her passion until she was injured on the job over a decade ago.

Working through EMS is where she met her devoted husband, Robert Rizzo.  Nicole and Bob (Robert) would enjoy traveling to the islands or cruising the ocean.

Nicole’s most treasured accomplishments and the love of her life was her son, James Bell III. She would describe him as “the best gift she’d ever received”.  He brought her so much joy and love and she loved to share stories and memories about him.  James was her entire world.

Nicole’s other love and passion was her love for her bull dogs. There was never a day that went by that we didn’t hear the bull dog stories.  She treated her dogs like humans, not dogs.  They were truly her fur babies.

Nicole is survived by her husband, Robert Rizzo, her son, James Bell III, step children Jonathan and Matthew, her parents, Theresa (Robert) Ebersole, Lynn (Barbara) Costine, her siblings Kimberly (Michael) Caso, Adam (Nancy) Costine, Kristen Masselli, nieces and nephews, Makayla (Jacob) Hess, Savanna Caso, Michael Caso, Steven Caso, Isabella Costine, Natalia Costine, Brandon Ferland, great nephew, Emmett Hess.

Nicole should be remembered for her love of life, family and passion for helping others.  A private celebration of life and burial will take place at a later time.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to Dutchess County ASPCA, 634 Violet Avenue, Hyde Park, NY 12538, phone number 845-452-7722"
