Mohamed Lamin Sesay was born in Kambia, Republic of Sierra Leone to his father, Mohamed Sulaiman Sesay, and his mother, Madollo (Yilla) Sesay. He was a warm and caring person who was greatly loved by the many family members and friends whose lives he touched.
Mohamed Lamin was a distinguished United Nations diplomat with numerous academic and career accomplishments. He acquired degrees, certificates, and honors from prestigious institutions and organizations, including the London School of Economics, the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, Whitchurch Hospital (Cardiff), the Association of Former International Civil Servants (United Nations), and more.
Mohamed Lamin Sesay and his beloved wife, Lyuba Pavlovna (Halawin) Sesay were a strong couple who loved each other with great loyalty and respect for over 50 years. As their daughter, Paula (Pasha), I am proud to be writing this in honor of my parents. They were also kind and loving parents to my sister, Kira, and they are cherished by our many extended family members and friends.
I am at peace, knowing our parents are finally reunited with each other, and our brother Andrei, as well as our loved ones who crossed over before them. I feel assured my father will be greeted with loving arms and guided to peace.
We love you all, and you will always be with us in spirit and in our hearts.
Mohamed Lamin Sesay passed peacefully on Friday, August 25, 2023.
Please feel free to share your kind words, fond memories, and photos in remembrance of Dad. Thank you, your support and kindness are greatly appreciated during this time.
Love,
The Sesay Family
