Mildred Gladwin is the daughter of the late Gilbert Belle and Althea Belle. She was born and raised in Bronx, NY. She was predeceased by Walter Gladwin, her husband of 42 years. She is survived by her son, Eric Pierce, his wife, Cynthia Pierce of Central Islip, NY, daughter, Stephanie Harris, granddaughter, Shanna Harris of Mount Vernon, NY, daughter, Leslie Moore (deceased), son in law Lawrence Moore of Stockbridge, Georgia, sisters Jacqueline Russ (deceased), and Elizabeth White (deceased), and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Mildred transitioned on Monday November 24, 2025 at Calvary Hospital in Bronx, NY. She was 85 years old and succumbed following a 7 month battle with lung cancer. Mildred attended P.S.54 and graduated from Taft High School, Bronx, NY. Mildred held a variety of positions of employment over her lifetime, however, she discovered her passion for yoga in the 1970s. After being introduced to Transcendental Meditation while working at Celebrity, Inc. in Manhattan. She went on to study and train with Tao Porshon-Lynch, a renowned yoga master with whom she developed a lifelong friendship. Mildred earned a Yoga Teachers Diploma from the Westchester Institute of Yoga, which enabled her to teach all levels of Hatha Yoga. She went on to teach yoga at a variety of places, including the City of Mount Vernon, A Dance Studio in Larchmont, NY, The New Rochelle Public Library, and The United Federation of Teachers (UFT). She also conducted private classes.
