McCoy Smith, Jr.

McCoy Smith, Jr., lovingly known as Smitty, age 91 of Mount Vernon, New York passed away peacefully on November 11, 2023. McCoy, Jr. was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on July 20, 1932, to parents Rosetta and McCoy Smith. During his early childhood, his family moved to Wilmington, Delaware and later in life he returned to North Carolina and enlisted in the US Army in 1953. After sustaining an injury he received an Honorable Discharge in 1955. He then moved to Mount Vernon, New York and in 1956 met Joanna Slade and shortly after they were married. McCoy, Jr. and Joanna went on to have two children, Leisa and Brian. He had a long-standing career with Independent Television Corporation (ITC) working under the President, Abe Mandell for 40 plus years. In his retirement, he enjoyed going fishing, watching the New York Yankees and coaching them from his couch and most of all he loved spending time with his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. McCoy, Jr. is predeceased by his daughter Leisa and grandson Damon. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Joanna, son Brian, daughter-in-law Miranda and grandsons Tai and Aiden.
