Maria Licursi

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Stella Licursi, who died on March 9th, 2023. Maria was a woman of remarkable strength and devotion, and her loss is deeply felt by her family, friends, and community.
Maria was born in Mongrassano, Calabria, Italy. In the late nineteen-fifties, at the age of nineteen, she immigrated to the United States, where she established a life for her family. She worked as a seamstress, ran kitchens, and raised her children and grandchildren. Throughout her life, Maria dedicated herself to her family and supported them with incredibly hard work, a wonderful sense of humor, and unconditional love.
One of Maria's greatest passions was cooking, and she expressed her love for her family and friends by feeding them delicious meals. Her kitchen was always filled with the aroma of homestyle Italian dishes, and she took great pride in preparing meals that brought joy and comfort to those around her.
Despite facing many hardships in her life, Maria remained a source of unceasing joy. She was a spirited, courageous woman who emblematized the American Dream. Her pure spirit and profound faith were evident to all who knew her, and she was deeply connected to the Roman Catholic Church and the Blessed Mother. In particular, her profound admiration for Our Lady of Guadalupe, whom she visited in Mexico City to her great delight, enriched her deep faith.
Maria is survived by her beloved husband Emiddio, her sons Peter and Paul, and her daughters-in-law Giselle and Maria. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Peter, Marielle, Paul, Elena, Marissa, Matthew, and Julia, as well as her great-grandchildren, Myles and Piero, who were the light of her life.
Maria's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten, and her legacy of love and devotion will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, knowing that she was deeply loved and will be forever remembered.
