Maria M. DiMatteo of Mount Vernon, New York, passed away on June 6, 2023. She was born in Novi Velia, Salerno on November 2, 1947 to Carmela Positano and Aniello Ricchiuti. Beloved wife of 49 years Angelo DiMatteo; loving mother of Leandra (Mark) Fulgione, Laura (Patrick) Busenburg, Michele (Andrea) and Daniele (Stephanie); cherished Nonna of Ava, Matteo, Isabella, Gabriella, Luca, Daniella, Sienna, Ella, Leonardo, Marcello and Aria; dear sister of Giuseppina LaPorta (her twin), Vincenzo Ricchiuti, Adriano Ricchiuti, Antonietta Ricchiuti and Livia Ricchiuti. And adored aunt to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her siblings Angelo Ricchiuti, Michele Ricchiuti, Vittorio Ricchiuti, and Carlo Ricchiuti. Maria lived a beautiful life filled with her passion and love of cooking. Spending time with her family is what she treasured most. A life dedicated to hard work, inspiration and dreaming big. Maria was known for her work ethic, acts of generosity and kind heart to all who knew her. A longtime resident of Mount Vernon, New York, she loved this city and was honored to be a part of it. Working for over thirty years in The Mount Vernon School district and also in the Factory District was just another example of her dedication and work ethic. She will continue to be loved and dearly missed, especially her family and by all whose lives she touched. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all who have reached out with love, support, prayers and condolences during this difficult time.
