Margaret Caragine Cavalluzzi Obituary

Margaret Caragine Cavalluzzi, a beacon of brilliance and benevolence, passed away on October 21, 2024, at the age of 60, after a courageous 4-year battle with gynecological cancer. She died peacefully at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, NY, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on May 23, 1964, in Georgetown, Washington D.C., Margaret was the cherished oldest daughter of Louis and Carol (predeceased) Caragine and the eldest sibling to Louis Caragine Jr. (Robyn), Frank Caragine (predeceased), Theresa Caragine (Thomas Voutsas), and Maria Thompson (Chris). Her early years in Mount Vernon, NY were filled with curiosity and a passion for learning, traits that would define her throughout her life.

Margaret's academic journey was nothing short of impressive. She pursued her passion for technology and science at Manhattan College, where she was among the first women to receive bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering. As a founding member of the first sorority for women in engineering at Manhattan College, her tenacity and pioneering spirit were evident.  Margaret’s thirst for knowledge and professional development also led her to George Washington University, where she earned a master's in project management. She further enhanced her expertise with advanced certifications from Columbia University in the City of New York.

A commitment to excellence and innovation marked her professional life. Margaret dedicated over a decade of service to Loral Space, making significant contributions to the defense field. She then joined Motorola Corporation, where she spent nearly 25 years as an engineer and project manager, leading projects that pushed the boundaries of communications and public safety and improved countless lives.

But Margaret's impact went far beyond her professional achievements. She was deeply involved in volunteering, giving back to children in the Bronx every holiday season and to her local Westchester community with unwavering dedication. Her generosity of spirit and her ability to inspire others to act was a testament to her character.

Family was the cornerstone of Margaret's life. She found her greatest joy in the company of her husband, Allen Cavalluzzi, and their two children, Nico and Annie. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, learning, and love. Margaret's various roles as a mother, wife, daughter, and aunt were infused with the same passion and dedication she brought to every aspect of her life.

Margaret also found pleasure in life's simpler moments, whether shopping with friends or enjoying quiet evenings with her pets at home. Her zest for life, sense of style and infectious laugh will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Margaret's legacy is one of profound impact and enduring love for her family, friends, and most of all her children, Nico and Annie, who were her pride and joy. She is survived by her husband Allen; her loving children, Nico and Annie; her proud father, Louis; and her siblings, Louis, Theresa, and Maria.  Her memory and amazing resilience will forever be treasured in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to call her a friend. Margaret’s life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived.
