Lydia Kuschnar Sousa

Lydia (Kuschnar) Sousa, aged 89, passed away on July 12th surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in the Ukraine on August 25th, 1930 to Emil and Eva Hein. Loving Mother to Lucy Kozera, Paul Kuschnar and Richard Kuschnar, predeceased by her beloved sons, Serge Kuschnar and Arkady Kuschnar. Cherished Grandmother to Alex and Chrissy Kozera, and Emily Novak. She is also survived by her brother Richard Hein, and her sister Erica (Carl) Kowarz,  predeceased by her brother Alexander Hein and sister Melitta (Werner) Kroeger.Lydia retired as a childcare worker as well as a dietetic assistant at the Wartburg Home. She was passionate about gardening, cooking for her family, and caring for animals.

Visitation will be held at Yannantuono Burr Sharpe Davis Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, NY on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00pm. The family will honor Lydia’s life with a memorial service at Village Lutheran Church in Bronxville, NY at 10:00am Thursday. Burial to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings, NY.
