Lucia I Uomoleale

Lucia Uomoleale (nee Lecce) known as Lucy, of Mount Vernon, NY passed away on September 3, 2023. Lucy was born in Mount Vernon on May 30, 1932 to Francesco and Lauretta Lecce. She is predeceased by her sister, Elena D'Amico.

Lucy is also predeceased by her beloved husband, Armand Uomoleale Sr.  She was the loving mother of Francine Uomoleale and Armand Jr, and mother-in-law to Thomas Mauro, Jr.  and Karen (Liss) Uomoleale.  She was a devoted grandmother to Brittany Uomoleale Onthank, Armand Uomoleale III, Thomas Mauro III, Travis Mauro and Tristen Mauro. She is also survived by many loving cousins, nephews and her grandson-in-law Taber Onthank.

Lucy was passionate about singing in the Our Lady of Victory choir and loved working in her garden, where she was famous for growing vegetables, flowers and fruit and of course figs, where no one else could.  Her green thumb was admired by all who knew her and shared in the garden's bounty.

The family will honor Lucy’s memory on Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday September 8, 2023 at Our Lady of Victory Church in Mount Vernon at 10 am.  Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, New Rochelle, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Lucy's honor.
