Louis Grandison, (70), died on Sunday, December 20,2020 after a brief illness. He was born to Gladys Grandison in Harlem Hospital in New York City. He was raised along with his 3 siblings, Barbara, Carolyn, and Kevin. Married his beloved wife of 50 years Maxine in June of 1970. They had 3 children, Louis Jr., Nichelle, and Rebecca: 6 grandchildren Deja, Louis, Reginald, Lamishia, Amos and raising their grandson Devin. He resided in Mount Vernon for the past 31 years.
Employed by the Depository Trust Clearing Corp. for 41 years, he worked his way up the corporate ladder and held several positions including becoming the Senior Director of the IT Operations division.
The first African American to do so at this company. Once Louis retired in June of 2011, he continued travelling with his wife particularly the continent of Africa where they would outreach with the various countries by donating school supplies, clothing, staples, and money.
In addition to travelling, Louis enjoyed bowling, fishing, going to concerts and cooking especially barbecuing on the grill. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his family and friends. He doted on the newest member of the family, Amos, affectionately known as “Peanut”, babysitting at every opportunity.
Louis is survived by his wife of 50 years, Maxine, his children Louis Jr. and Rebecca, grandchildren, Deja, Louis S., Reginald, Devin, Lamishia and Amos, his sibling Carolyn, nephews Keith, Aaron, Cheyenne, Christopher, Daniel, Kevin Jr., Rasheem, his niece, Kimberley, grand nieces and nephews, lifelong friends, Benjamin, Daud, Nelson, and many other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his daughter, Nichelle in April of 2000.
Louis was our rock, a man of an integrity and strength. God Bless you Louis, you will be sorely missed but God needed you more.
