Lorraine Cotrufo Obituary

Lorraine Deshler – Cotrufo passed away peacefully on April 20th, 2020, shortly after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. She was born on April 12th, 1930 to Wilhamena and John Deshler and beloved wife of the late Natale Cotrufo. Survived by her daughter Catherine Cotrufo – Strauss and Raymond Cotrufo Sr., Grandmother to Natalie Strauss, Thomas Strauss Jr., Raymond Cotrufo Jr. and great-granddaughter Corrine Noelle Cotrufo. She was a professional singer on the radio at age 16. She was a phenomenal cook and baker. She loved music and would dance all night long at every party she attended. She was a telephone operator all her life starting at Burke Ave Telephone Company, Medical Arts, and Mount Vernon Hospital, until her retirement. She was born in Queens N.Y., raised in Shirley Long Island, married Natale Cotrufo and moved to the Bronx then Mount Vernon, and spent her retirement years in Hopewell Junction N.Y. with her daughter Catherine, Tom Sr., Natalie, and Tom Jr., her beloved Dachshund Shotzsie and her Weimaraner Blitz. She is predeceased by her eight brothers and sisters Anna, Bertha, Regina, Marion, Walter, Freddy, Harold, and Johnny. Lorraine had a free spirit and a giving heart. She treasured her family and filled the world with love and compassion, creating a lasting memory to everyone who knew her. Her happiest memories were her times spent with her grandchildren. Her special time with her sisters and in laws on her yearly cruises that filled her heart with joy and laughter. She was Blessed with so many wonderful memories of her friends at Mount Vernon Hospital and her friends and neighbors where she lived in Hopewell Junction ,who always gave her not only friendship, but love and great memories that filled her life. Her spiritual life was filled with lasting love with the Sisters of the Christian Doctrine and her devout love and service to the Blessed Mother. Her final resting place will be with her husband Natale Anthony Cotrufo at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Due to the present pandemic a celebration of her life will be at a future date to be announced on the Yannantuono Funeral Home website. In lieu of flowers we ask for donations to her charity St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or plant a tree found on the website.
