Licinia Da Silva, a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at Calvary Hospital in Bronx, NY, on January 30, 2025. She was born on September 29, 1940, in the quaint village of Poutena, Portugal, and her journey of 84 years was marked by love, dedication, and faith.
Licinia's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and her ability to touch the hearts of those around her. She was the beloved wife of Arquibio Da Silva, with whom she shared a profound and enduring love for 61 years. Together, they built a life filled with joy and companionship. Her legacy continues through her devoted son, Paul Da Silva, her late daughter-in-law Linda, and her loving daughter, Gina Pizzonia (nee Da Silva), and son-in-law Mario Pizzonia.
For over four decades, Licinia worked as a seamstress, a craft she honed with precision and care. She was a proud member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union (ILGWU), where she formed lasting friendships. Her dedication to her craft was surpassed only by her lasting commitment to her family and community.
Licinia's passions extended beyond the walls of her home and workplace. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as cooking traditional Portuguese dishes that would entice the entire family with their aroma. Traveling was another of her delights, especially her trips back to Portugal, where she reconnected with her siblings.
A woman of many talents, Licinia also found solace in crochet, creating beautiful pieces that she lovingly gifted to friends and family. She also enjoyed sewing clothing for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening, and grew fresh vegetables that she lovingly shared with her family. Even as her hands worked the soil, her heart remained firmly planted in her faith. She was a devout participant at her church, Our Lady of Fatima, even as her health waned.
Above all, Licinia was known for her loving nature, her faith-filled life, and her undying selflessness to those closest to her. She was a loving mother and took great pleasure in caring for her grandchildren, Paul, Michael, Anthony and Sabrina.
As we bid farewell to Licinia, we celebrate the lasting impact she made on the lives of those she touched. Her unwavering love, her gentle guidance, and her enduring spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of love, faith, and selflessness, a tapestry that will continue to inspire and comfort us all.
Licinia's family will receive friends and loved ones to share memories and celebrate her life. Her journey on this earth has ended, but her spirit lives on in the hearts of everyone who knew her. We take solace in the knowledge that her legacy will continue to flourish in the lives she so deeply influenced. May she rest in peace, knowing she was dearly loved and will always be remembered.
