Juanita E. Samuels

Juanita Elizabeth Samuels, 85, of Fishkill, NY went home to be with the Lord on September 1,
2022. She was surrounded by her family when she succumbed to cancer after a courageous six-
month battle. Juanita was predeceased by her parents, Mary Armstrong and Thomas Dickson, siblings, Gloria
Sears, and Thomas Dickson Jr., and husband, George Irving Samuels Jr. Mrs. Samuels is survived
by her three children, Corey, Marcelena, and Gloria, five grandchildren, Lillian, Destyne, Amina,
Jasaiah, and Ramell, and three great grandchildren, Carmelo, Carter, and Shyla.
Juanita was a caregiver at heart who dedicated her life to nursing after she graduated from
New Rochelle Hospital’s Nursing program. She spent more than 50 years as a nurse at New
Rochelle Hospital and was given promotions throughout her career. Her caregiving spirit began
as a mother, grandmother, and then great grandmother. She was also a good friend and
neighbor helping everyone in need by offering food, shelter, and encouragement.
Juanita loved to cook and share whatever she had with others. After her sister passed at age 29,
she often spent time with her nephews Anthony, Bobby, Kyle, and Daryl. Our family is grateful
for the love that she gave so freely. Juanita is a shining example of a life well lived.
