Josie B. Lee

Josie B. Lee, 80, a lifelong resident of Mount Vernon, NY, died unexpectedly on April 21, 2023, at Mount Vernon Hospital, Mount Vernon, NY. Josie was born January 11, 1943, in Camden, SC, to Willie Jackson and Sallie Loynes. She accepted Christ very young and joined St. John’s Baptist Church in Camden, SC. She relocated to Mount Vernon, New York, where she met and married Destin Lee, who preceded her in death in 1994.

Josie worked for the Westchester County Department of Social Services for over 20 years, where she retired in 2008. She dedicated her life to her family, particularly her grandchildren. Josie was full of life, love, and laughter. You could count on seeing her with a cup of coffee, talking on the phone, watching her favorite gospel program, or doing a two-step.

She is survived by four daughters and three sons, Destin Lee (Lizzie), Kim Lee-Patrick (Reggie), Lawrence Lee (Monique), Domanica Lee, Damon Lee, Jenine Lee, and Jennifer Lee; her sister, Luella Loynes-Burts (Stephen deceased); devoted cousin/sister Ruby Alexander-McNair; her sister-in-law, Marcia Hines; and her brother-in-law Walter Lee.

Also, she leaves to rejoice in her memory twenty-one grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.
