Our beloved mother, Josephine Milano, passed away peacefully December 13th, 2024, at Calvary Hospice in the Bronx. She was 97 years old.
She was born on June 6th, 1927, to Lino and Angela Milani and raised in Castelvecchio, Italy. After coming to America, she attended The College of New Rochelle and earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. She did this while teaching for over two decades at Our Lady of Victory elementary school in Mt. Vernon, NY.
In 1951, Josephine was married to Raymond Milano and lived in the Bronx, NY, before moving to Mt. Vernon, NY, where she lived ever since.
Josephine loved her crafts. She was quite expert at needlepointing, crocheting, and knitting. She would always be creating sweaters, scarves, and blankets for the family. She also loved to read, having many books stacked on the table waiting for her attention.
Josephine took annual vacations with the family which were all memorable, but the most memorable ones were two trips back to her hometown in Italy with her husband, Raymond after they retired.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Milano, her daughter Lena Milano, and her sister Marie Baglione. Josephine is survived by her children Ferdinand Milano, Raymond Milano and his wife Donna, and their children Hayley Milano, Kimberly Milano, and Melanie Milano who affectionately called her GMA.
Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:30; service at 11:30 – 12:00 on Wednesday, December 18 at Yannantuono Burr Davis Sharpe Funeral Home, 584 Gramatan Avenue, Mt. Vernon, NY 10552. Followed by interment at St. Raymond’s Cemetery, 2600 Lafayette Ave, Bronx, NY 10473.
In lieu of flowers please donate to The Clearview School (The Family of Melanie Milano, in honor of her GMA, Josephine Milano). 480 Albany Post Road, Briarcliff Manor, NY 10510
