Joseph Patrick Kavanagh

Joseph Patrick Kavanagh, 77, of Yonkers, NY, passed away on May 16, 2026. Born on August 3, 1948, Joseph lived a full life defined by devotion to his family and friends, pride in his service,
and a deep appreciation for music and culture. Joseph proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years as an air traffic controller. Following his military service, he dedicated 30 years to New York City as a Fire Alarm Dispatcher, a career marked by commitment, professionalism, and quiet strength before
retiring. Outside of his work, Joe embraced life with enthusiasm. He was a devoted fan of rock and roll, especially The Rolling Stones, and loved attending live music performances. He enjoyed
spending time at art museums, reading literature, and cheering on the New York Yankees at baseball games whenever he could. Joe was truly a Renaissance man whose many interests
reflected both intellect and heart. He also found great joy in collecting books, sports memorabilia, and treasured keepsakes that reflected his passions and personality.
Above all else, Joe cherished his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sheila, whom he married on January 25, 1992; his daughter, Kimberly, and son-in-law, Frank; his son,
Christopher, and daughter-in-law, Maria; and his adored grandchildren, Sophia, Frank Jr., Anastasia, and Fiona. He will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and the countless
memories he created with those he loved. Family and friends are welcome to attend a visitation on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 3:00 PM
to 7:00 PM at Yannantuono Burr Davis Sharpe Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 29, 2026, at 9:45 AM at Saint
Joseph’s Church in Bronxville N.Y. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Joseph’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
