Joseph (Giuseppe) Cipriano, affectionately known as Joe and Pop Pop, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2024, surrounded by his loving family in Somers, New York. Born on February 21, 1953, in Guardia Lombardi, Italy to his beloved parents Gaetano and Tommasa Cipriano. Joe and his family settled in Mount Vernon, where he was surrounded by and contributed to the love and kindness shared by his extended family and friends. Joe was a devoted husband to his wife, Felice, a loving father to his sons, Guy and Lawrence, and a proud father-in-law to Keri and Lynda. His grandsons, Joseph, Erik, Christian, Connor, and Jason, will remember him as a grandfather who was always there for them, cheering them on and offering wisdom. He is survived by his brother Lino, his niece Nikole, his nephews Christofer and Justin, and great nephew Santino. Joe will also be dearly missed by his Uncle Lino, Aunt Maria, and numerous cousins. Joe dedicated 30-plus-years of service to the Post Office, where his friendly demeanor and selfless service left a lasting impression on his colleagues. Known as “Coach Cip” to many, Joe's passion for soccer led him to a remarkable tenure spanning several decades and walking many sidelines as a high school coach - notably in Scarsdale, Pelham, and Edgemont schools. His influence extended beyond the field, as he became a mentor to countless students, instilling values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. His love for coaching was only matched by the joy he found in watching his grandsons play soccer, ice hockey, and lacrosse. Joe's presence on the sidelines and in the rinks was a source of encouragement and pride, and his grandsons' achievements were a testament to the love and support he provided. Joe's legacy will live on in the lives he touched, the players he coached, and the family he adored. His spirit, characterized by love and kindness, will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we say our goodbyes, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life full of passion, dedication, and unwavering love for those around him. Joe's memory will be cherished forever in the hearts of all who loved him.
