John Noschese

The chefs in heaven were put on notice this week, as one of their most coveted patrons was coming home for a feast with his heavenly father. Few people live as full or rewarding a life as John Noschese did. Affectionately referred to as “Papa John” by friends, family and congregants, John passed away in New Rochelle, NY on August 12, 2018 at the age of 93.

John was born on December 5th, 1924 in New York, NY to Giuseppe and Rose Noschese. After high school he enlisted with the United States Marine Corps, where he served honorably and went on to join the New York Transit Police Department. After retiring he became a Private Investigator before starting his own security company, VGI, with his wife Theresa. Of all his life’s works, his marriage to Terry, was the most enduring and important aspect. Married for over 45 years, they had an unbreakable bond that stood as a proud example for how a blessed marriage could enrich the lives of those two people and many more surrounding them. 

After running a successful business together, they became fixtures in the community of New Rochelle as the founders of the Master’s Hand Church, where Terry preached. Gregarious, loving, even at times slightly mischievous, John loved life, and was a source of joy and laughter, as he touched people from all walks. He is survived by his wife Theresa; children, Pamela Rozzoni (Robert Rozzoni), Joseph Noschese (Carmen), Francine Alba (Jaime Alba), Thomas LaVardera (Linda LaVardera), Maria Nigro (Joseph Nigro); grandchildren, Jesse Alba, Angela Rozzoni, John Rozzoni, Lauren Potter (Cody Potter), Justin Nigro (Margot Nigro), Rebecca Rozzoni, Terin Alba, Jason LaVardera, Josh LaVardera, Shayna Apgar (Richard Apgar), Joseph William Noschese, and Gabriella LaVardera; great-grandchildren, Daniel Potter, Jordyn Nigro, and Christian Potter; siblings, Frank, Al, and Anne.

The family will be receiving visitors on Tuesday, August 14th, 2018 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Yannantuono Burr Davis Sharpe Funeral Home (584 Gramatan Avenue, Mount Vernon, NY, 10552). A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 15th, 2018, at the funeral home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate John Noschese’s life.
