John Mancuso, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026, at the age of 69 in White Plains, NY. Born on January 21, 1956, in Goshen, NY, John's life was a tapestry of love for his family, passion for the great outdoors, and dedication to education.
John's journey began as the beloved son of Gabriel and Anna, and the brother to Gilda, Delia, and Lena. Though he is predeceased by his father, mother, and sister Gilda, his legacy continues through his loving wife Renee, his children Emily, Jake, and Rebecca, and his sisters Delia and Lena.
An alumnus of SUNY ESF and Syracuse University, John's thirst for knowledge was as boundless as his love for nature. After devoting years to outdoor education programs at various YMCA camps, he ultimately found his calling at the Greenburgh Nature Center, where he thrived as a Naturalist Educator. His work inspired countless individuals to appreciate and respect the beauty and ingenuity of the natural world.
Outside of work, John loved new experiences, especially when they also included his family. With them, he watched countless movies, discovered treasures while metal detecting and fossil hunting, impressed with his knowledge of the outdoors on every nature walk, went on dozens of road trip adventures, shared his love of music, new and old, and was the first tester for every new recipe.
John Mancuso's life was a testament to the impact one person can have through teaching, sharing, and loving. He will be profoundly missed, yet his impact will continue to grow and flourish in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
