Jean Antime Noel of Mount Vernon, NY passed away unexpectedly on November 19, 2022. Born on August 9, in Jeremie, Haiti; Antime was the 4th child born to the late Philocles and Mercedes Noel. As a child in Haiti, Antime spent his days playing soccer, going to concerts, and listening to music. He was a great dancer and enjoyed attending the annual Haitian Kanaval festivities. Antime was known to be a wordsmith and lover of languages as he was fluent in English, Kreyol, French, Spanish and Latin. Antime came from a deeply religious family; one of his favorite past times was attending mass with his parents and siblings and volunteering time to maintain the church facilities. His passion for God continued into adulthood as he always traveled to attend the annual Haitian Charismatique Convention when he moved to the US. As a young adult in Haiti, he attended College Saint Louis of Jeremie to obtain a degree in accounting. He was a devoted Christian, and his Catholic faith was the foundation of his life. In 1971, Antime immigrated to Brooklyn, NY and married his wife, Marie Rose Venise Noel. The pair shared 5 children who were his pride and joy. In his later years, Antime enjoyed playing dominos, puzzles with his grandchildren and rooting AGAINST every NY sports team but the Yankees. As a former dietitian, cooking was one of his favorite past times. Antime was a comedian in his own right and his passion for life was one of the reasons he was loved by all. He was considered to be somewhat of a
fashion icon; he was known for his love of watches, dapper suits and pristine bow ties. His beloved family was the focus and joy in his life. He committed himself to making sure his children
had a good education and that they knew how much he loved them. Antime loved his children so much that he would forgo his breaks at work to make sure they were picked up from school on time. He checked their homework nightly even into their high school years. And he even served as an unofficial chaperon at his eldest son’s prom. Antime never second guessed the sacrifices he made when raising them. He invested most his time and savings in his children to become the exceptional adults they are now. He spent most of his time after retirement caring for, visiting and playing with his grandkids. With his siblings, he attended family cruises, had weekly game nights and saw them several times a week. For his wife, who he affectionately called “Ti Dame”, he was a provider, loyal partner and he used his wit and humor to keep her laughing for 48 years. He also shared a special bond with his many nieces, nephews, cousins and godchildren. Antime is survived by his loving and devoted wife Marie Rose Venise Noel; his 5 children and their spouses: Jenny Patricia Auxilly, Jean Ivan Noel, Jean Alain Noel (Stephanie), Jean Anir Noel (Nicole), Alex
Joseph Noel(Vanessa); his 14 beloved grandchildren and 4 siblings: Miriam Noel Terrible, Marie Rogette Noel Jean-Mary, Marie Ange Noel Mensah, Pierre Joseph Noel. He was predeceased by his brother Jean D. Noel and sister Luce Noel Desroches.
