Our dad ILIDIO FERREIRA was the son of Mr. Antonio Alves Ferreira and his wife Ms. Eduarda Martins. He was born on February 24, 1925 in Sao Cristovao which is located in the county of Rio de Janeiro, Brasil.
After living in Brazil for several years at a young age his family moved back to Portugal where they settled in the village of Aguas Santas, county of Vila Real, Tras Os Montes.
In 1960 our dad came to the USA and worked for several years then returned to Portugal in 1964 and married his wife Pureza Ferreira.
They returned and settled in the USA in the city of Mt. Vernon, New York and he worked in the construction industry with Local 60. He raised his family and was a longtime resident of Mt. Vernon. After 25 years of continuous work service he formally retired.
His hobbies were watching soccer, making wine the traditional Portuguese way and spending time with the family in addition to traveling to Portugal with his family.
He was an original member of the Portuguese American Club of Mt. Vernon upon its inception. He was honored in 2015 as an honorary member for his generous support and one of the longest living member. His children to this date continue to be part of the Portuguese American Club and community.
Our dad ILIDIO FERREIRA, married for over 55 years, is survived by his wife Pureza Ferreira and his two children Elizabeth Ferreira and Ramiro Santos Ferreira.
Ramiro is married to Fatima Ferreira with their children Justin, Alexia and Marcus Ferreira.
