She was accepted into the prestigious High School of Music & Art where she met her lifelong love, companion and partner Ahmed Tariq. She went to John Jay College of Criminal Justice with the intention to become an attorney. However, her plans changed after a summer working in the Harlem Hospital Emergency Room. There she decided hospital administration was her calling. She acquired a Master’s in Community Health Administration from Long Island University. Holly placed a high value on education for herself, her family and her community. She worked as an educator at Marble Hill Nursery School, Mount Vernon High School and St. Joseph’s College (now University) in Brooklyn, NY and served on her local school board for nearly a decade. She remained a lifelong learner, pursued a PhD in Organizational Leadership at the University of Phoenix and completed a Master’s Degree program in Marriage & Family Therapy from Long Island University. After working with the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation, and East Orange General Hospital, she joined the staff at St. Mary’s Center in 1996. There she was fulfilled as a licensed nursing home administrator and oversaw the expansion of the Skilled Nursing Facility to include an Adult Day Health Care. Holly’s greatest achievements were with her beloved husband Ahmed Tariq which included raising their children Hasan Ahmed Tariq, LNHA, Esq., and Yasmin Gloria Tariq, who also holds a Masters in Public Health and is a dedicated public servant.
