Henrietta Amelia Walker Dawkins was born in the district of Sand Shore, Manchineal, Parish of Portland Jamacia, West Indies on February 14, 1931. She was born to Jane Bailey and Theophilus Walker. She attended Tichfield Secondary School. Upon graduation she immigrated to England to pursue a degree in Nursing. She studied at the Princess Alice Hospital at Eastbourne Sussex. She further pursued post graduate studies in cataracts and obstetrics. While in England she reconnected with the love of her life, Panton Albert Wilson Dawkins. They were married on December 10, 1960. Their union was blessed with four children: Patrick Anthony, Michael Albert, Richard Lovene (predeceased) and Avril Mae. After years of working as a Nurse in England, in September of 1968 the family immigrated to the United States of America. She was recruited by the New York City's Health and Hospital Corporation (HHC) and
completed additional post graduate specialty at the premier Rusk Institute, now part of NYU. She retired from HHC as a nurse manager at North Central Bronx Hospital's Rehabilitation Unit to care for her husband in 1995. Panton predeceased her in 1998. Henrietta spent her retirement as an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Mount Vernon, where she was a member of and former President of The Women's Society. She was also a member of the Caribbean Club. Any activity that included her grandchildren or great grandchildren provided her
with the most joy. Henrietta is survived by her children: Patrick Dawkins (Brenda), Michael Dawkins, Richard Dawkins (predeceased) and Avril Dawkins (Simone). Grandchildren: Patrick Williams, Tara Richardson, Kevin Richardson. Great grandchildren: Patrick Williams, Jr., Pryce Williams, Jaylen Richardson, Zayden Richardson, numerous family members and friends who will deeply miss her.
