Helen Schiavello

Helen Schiavello of Mt. Vernon passed away peacefully at home on March 27, 2020. She was born May 21, 1921, in Yonkers. Beloved wife of the late Joseph Schiavello (deceased 1982). Loving mother of Joseph (deceased 2018) and Elizabeth (Betty). She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Helen was employed over the years at Otis Elevator Company, S. Klein’s and Mitchell Electronics. She volunteered at St. Joseph’s Medical Center gift shop for over 10 years until the three-bus commute became too much. She most recently served as a volunteer at the Mount Vernon Armory Senior Center. In 2016 she was inducted into the Westchester County Senior Citizens Hall of Fame in recognition of her service. Due to the current quarantine restrictions, we are unable to have a traditional wake for everyone to attend, Helen will be laid to rest on May 21, 2020.

She was a generous and caring person who will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In light of the COVID-19, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date.In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Jansen Hospice and Palliative Care http://www.jansenhospice.org/index.htm
