Gennaro Giorgio of Scarsdale passed away peacefully on September 28, 2018. Jerry was born on March 27, 1934 to Basilio & Terese Giorgio. He married the love of his life, Catherine on July 30, 1960. Jerry joined the NYC police department in 1959 and was later promoted to First grade detective in 1986. He was well known for solving the murder at the Met & Baby Hope case and many other high profile cases. He received “Man of the year” by the NYPD Holy name society and “Cop of the Year” NYS awards in 1994. He is survived by his wife Kay, daughter Lisa Jocelyn and her husband TJ, grandchildren Christina & Brian. Predeceased by his son Marc on January 9, 2018. Jerry was an avid NY Yankee and NY Giants fan and enjoyed watching the games with Marc. He loved to host many weekend BBQs and “friendly” volleyball games. Jerry was a true hero and legend amongst his peers and a kind gentile soul to all. Family will honor Jerry’s life on Sunday from 7 – 9 pm and on Monday from 1- 4 pm & 6 – 9 pm at the funeral home. Funeral Mass 11:00 am at Annunciation Church, Crestwood. Entombment at Ferncliff Cemetery.
