Francisco (Chico) P. DeMello, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on July 7, 2024. He was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and made a significant life journey to the United States in September 1966. Frank was a devoted husband to Nair (Nina) DeMello, with whom he celebrated 65 years of marriage. The couple was married on December 13, 1958, and shared a life full of love and memories. He was the cherished son of Emilia DeMello and Manoel de Vasconcellos. Frank had a close-knit family, with his late brother Americo from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and his dear sister Lourdes de Oliveira, who resides in Fishkill, NY.
Frank's legacy includes his four loving children: Denise, Lou, Jorge, and Michael. He was a proud grandfather to Jenna Ar-Bab, Lou DeMello, and Mike DeMello, and a doting great-grandfather to Adriana Ar-Bab, Mila Ar-Bab, and Graham DeMello. After a long and dedicated career as a construction blaster, Frank retired from ECCO III in 1997, having worked there for over 25 years. He was known for his lovable and warm personality, and he delighted in sharing stories of his past. Frank was also an avid soccer fan, whose enthusiasm for the sport was contagious to all who knew him. His memory will be cherished by his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
