Frances Falco (nee Cavalazzi), loving grandmother, mother, cousin, and friend, passed away on Monday, July 18th, 2022 at the age of 93, just a few weeks shy of her 94th birthday. Frances was born on August 5th, 1928 in Bronx, NY to Rocco and Vita (nee Gioia) Cavalazzi .
Frances will be remembered by family and friends as incredibly kind and thoughtful. Her grandchildren knew her as “Granny” and have fond memories of her excellent Italian cooking and lots of loud and happy family celebrations! She remained living independently and despite several health scares over the years, she always bounced back and never lost her wit and humor.
Frances dearly loved her two children Peter John and Jeanine, who remained incredibly close with her throughout their lives. Her daughter lived in the same building and they spent many afternoons watching their favorite shows and old movies together. Her son visited her every weekend, often bringing flowers and pizza from local favorite, Johnny’s.
Following her children’s passings in 2019, Frances grew even closer to her now adult grandchildren. Despite living spread across the country, they talked on the phone regularly and prioritized visits home to spend time with her. Frances also became close with her aide, Bernie, who always looked out for her and gave her grandkids peace of mind knowing Granny had a friend so close by.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Alexandra (Allie) Falco, Jaime Falco Weiss and her husband Mitchell Weiss, and Jon Peter Falco and his girlfriend Kara Styles (an honorary grandchild!). She is also survived by her cousin Edward “Eddie” Diovisalvo, his wife KT Diovisalvo, their children Joseph and Laura, and her late son’s girlfriend Jackie DiNardo and the mother of her grandchildren, Shelly Falco.
In lieu of flowers, Frances’ family would love to support Rosary Hill Home, where her daughter, Jeanine spent her final weeks. This incredible facility provides hospice care for terminally ill cancer patients at no cost. The staff are so kind and gentle with their patients and provide compassionate support to their families.
