Ersilio Maiorano

Ersilio Maiorano of Mt Vernon, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on January 6, 1937, in the town of Guardia Lombardi, Italy to the late Rocco and Anna Maiorano.

In 1960, Ersilio married his beloved wife, Vituccia, and together they embarked on a journey of companionship that would span over six decades. Their union was blessed with two wonderful children, Rocco, (Mirella), and Vera Scavone (Sam). Ersilio's legacy continued to flourish through his cherished grandchildren, Samantha (Jason), Anthony (Kathryn), Matthew, Kirsten (Tommy), Celia and Grace. Ersilio's journey brought him joy as he witnessed the growth of his family including his adored great-grandsons: John Paul, Michael, Nathan, and Anthony Jr. Each of them was a source of immense pride and happiness. He was predeceased by one brother and three sisters.

Ersilio lived his life based on the foundation of respect, it was the core of his existence. His work ethic stemmed from and flourished because of the respect he had for what he did and how he treated others. The relationship he had with his family was authentic and genuine because of the respect he had for each individual in his life. His humble presence brought a burst of sunshine into every room he entered, and the love that each one of his family members had for him was palpable. He was a model of dignity and perseverance which will be a everlasting gift to all of us.

A celebration of Ersilio’s life will be held at Yannantuono Burr Davis Sharpe Funeral Home on Monday January 27th from 4-8pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Church on Tuesday at 10am. Entombment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Ersilio's honor.
