Obituary

Dr. Wadid Mauad Seady, 87, conocido por sus familiares y amigos como “Piquín,” nació el en Santo Domingo, República Dominicana,de padres Libaneses. Estudio medicina en la Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo y después que se graduó, viajó a Nueva York para hacer una especialización en Medicina Interna en prestigiosos hospitales de Manhattan, Nueva York. El prestó servicio médico en las Fuerzas Armadas de los Estados Unidos por 3 años, saliendo del ejército con el rango de Mayor. Contrajo matrimonio con la Señorita Flor Rojas Quiceno de Cali, Colombia en Junio del año 1973 y estuvieron casados hasta su fallecimiento en Enero del año 2003. Ellos se pasaban sus vacaciones viajando y les gustaban compartir con sus amistades y la familia. Piquín está reunido de nuevo con su gran amor, Flor.  


Le sobreviven: la hermana, Gloria Mauad de Assily, sus hijos y sobrinos de Piquín, Sandra, Liza, Tony y María Teresa Assily; el hermano, Yuad Mauad; los hijos de la hermana, Rosita Mauad de Julian, y sobrinos de Piquín, Johny Julián y Sara Julián de Hernandes. 

Por parte de la familia de Flor quienes los quería como familia le sobreviven:  su cuñada, Mary Rojas Kucaba y su hija, la sobrina de Piquín, Nicole Kucaba, (Miami, Florida) y otras sobrinas, Amanda Bruell (Porte Liberte, NJ), Catalina, Silvana, y Liliana Groihs Rojas(Colombia). Que en paz descanse, Piquín.  

 

Dr. Wadid Mauad Seady, 87, also known by his family and friends as “Piquín,” was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, of Lebanese parents.  He studied medicine at the Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo and after graduation, moved to New York to complete his residency in Internal Medicine at the most prestigious hospitals in Manhattan, New York.  Piquín also spent 3 years in the US Army as an army doctor and as of the date of his honorable discharge, he had reached the rank of Major. Piquínmarried Ms. Flor Rojas Quiceno of Cali, Colombia in June 1973,and they remained married until her death in January 2003.  They loved to travel, and to spend time with their friends and family.   Piquín is once again reunited with the love of his life, Flor.

 

He is survived by his sister, Gloria Mauad de Assily, her children, Piquin’s nieces and nephews, Sandra, Liza, Tony y María Teresa Assily; his brother, Yuad Mauad; children of his deceased sister, Rosita, Piquin’s niece and nephew, Sara Julián de Hernandes y Johny Julián.  

Flor’s surviving family who loved him like family are as follows:  his sister-in-law, Mary Rojas Kucaba; Mary’s daughter, Piquin’s niece, Nicole Kucaba, (Miami, Florida) and Piquin’s other nieces, Amanda Bruell (Porte Liberte, NJ), Catalina, Silvana y Liliana Groihs Rojas (Colombia). May you rest in peace, Piquin.
