Dorothy DeEttore Obituary

Dorothy DeEttore, 92 of Mt. Vernon passed away on April 23, 2020. Dotty was born on Nov. 9, 1926 in Yonkers, NY to the late Lillian McConway and Henry Mongarella.  Dorothy graduated from Saunders Trade School in Yonkers.  She passed away after a long lengthly illness, which she fought so valiantly for the last 15 years.  Dorothy retired from the Mt Vernon Board of Education after 26 years, as a cafeteria supervisor.  Dorothy met and later married Joseph DeDttore, Sr., (predeceased), and survived by her 3 children, Joseph Jr. of the home address, Robert DeEttore Sr.  of Florida, and her special daughter, Diane Contegiacomo of Stamford, Ct., who provided her with special care, compassion and love, and a very very special son-in-law, Nicky, who was more than just a son-in-law.  Dorothy is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Dominic Contegiamcomo Jr., Daria Fritzpatrick, Robert DeEttore Jr, and Jodie Phillips.  She is also survived by 2 great-grandchildren, Robert Phillips Jr, and Rory Phillips.  Dorothy is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, who adore her.  Also, she is survived by a sister, Patricia Apicella of Sunrise, Fl.  And most of all her 2 dedicated caretakers, who cared for her 24/7, Augustina and Amma, who were family to all of us.  Those who knew and loved Dorothy, and her fabulous cooking, she will be sorely missed, but never forgotten.  Due to the current  quarantine restrictions, we are unable to have a traditional wake for everyone to attend, Dorothy will be laid to rest on April 28th, 2020.
