Dora Perrotta, 95, passed away on November 1, 2021 surrounded by her loved ones.
Dora was born in Mount Vernon, New York on May 18, 1926 to Anthony and Maria Duronio. She spent her whole life in the area, later moving to Yonkers where she built a life with her husband of over 50 years, Joseph, and raised their beloved daughter Judy.
Dora was a woman ahead of her time. She took great pride in the career and the relationships she built with her co-workers at Ball Chain Manufacturing, Inc., where she worked for over 40 years.
She relished her role as a professional, wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to all, but the role that brought her the most joy was that of being a grandmother and great grandmother. She was a motherly figure not only to her family, but to their extended family, their friends, their neighbors, and pretty much everyone she encountered along the way.
To know Dora was to love her. She was sharp-witted, sharp-tongued, soft-hearted, and a bastion of patience and wisdom. Dora was a woman of great faith. No matter what life threw her way during her 95 years, she faced it with strength and grace.
She valued her time with her entire close knit family, especially the many hours she spent making magic in the kitchen. And boy, was it magic! She loved sitting around the table with a cup of coffee and bowl of fruit. She made a daily date with The Price is Right and Wheel of Fortune. With the television on and Pavarotti blaring through her speakers, she remained consistently hopeful that a knock on the door from Publishers Clearing House would come one day.
In true Dora fashion, looking out for others before herself, she always made sure you knew the traffic report, had your coat, and left the house well-fed. Everyone was welcome at her table. The door was always open for advice and cheesecake, whether she knew you for five minutes or fifty years.
Dora was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph; daughter Judy; sisters Carmella and Alda, and her brother Guido. She is survived by her grandchildren Stephanie, Jason and Zachary Lisella, and her great grandchildren Isabella, Nathalia and Tristan Flynn and Peyton Lisella. She also leaves behind her son-in-law Joseph and his wife Nicolette, loving nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, November 5th from 11:00AM to 12:30PM at Yannantuono Burr Davis Sharpe Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, NY, with a service at 12:30PM. Entombment is immediately to follow at Ferncliff Cemetery.
Dora was truly loved and deeply cherished. While she is certainly enjoying her long awaited reunion with her daughter Judy and the rest of her family, she will be missed beyond compare.
