Dolores Florence Ryan, 93, of New York, NY, passed away peacefully at United Hebrew of New
Rochelle February 20, 2026. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, and
her presence will be deeply missed. Born in Manhattan in 1932 to a Sicilian immigrant father
and mother of German, Irish decent, she was the second eldest of six and left school at a very
early age to help the family survive in the financially trying era. Dolores a devout Catholic
married Jerry E. Ryan in April 1950 and birthed three children, Agnes, Jerry and Thomas.
Dolores exemplified love and filled rooms and hearts with unmistakable care, compassion and
generosity. She charted her path with family, friends and strangers with a selfless demeanor
and acts of kindness. A tireless caregiver, she naturally considered other’s needs and comforts
ahead of her own, sought people in need and devoted her time, energy and support to their
wellbeing. Her thoughtfulness and radiance were instinctual and unprovoked. Knowing Dolores
was to love Dolores.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Jerry E Ryan in 2015 and her
loving daughter Agnes Ryan in 2017. Dolores is survived by her sons Jerry Ryan of
Philadelphia, PA; Thomas Ryan of New Rochelle, NY; her daughter-in-law’s Gayle Hayes and
Diana Echevarria; her stepdaughter Samatha Hayes; her grandchildren Niall, Nadia, and Ellis
Ryan; her nieces Debbie Esposito, Renee Raia; her nephews Robert, Greg, Christopher, Keith,
and Barret Raia; her extended family and friends the O’Connell’s; Kinsella’s; Healy’s and
Morton’s.
