Clementina DiMatteo of Mt. Vernon passed away on October 13, 2022. She was born on June 15, 1933 in Guardia de Lombardi, Italy to Nicola and Mariantonia DiMatteo. Clementina was predeceased by her beloved husband Balduino and her loving son Pietro. Loving mother of Mirella (Rocco) Maiorano and daughter in law Lorraine; cherished grandmother of Danielle, Anthony (Kathryn), Matthew (Kristin)and Celia; also survived by many nieces and nephews that she genuinely enjoyed keeping in touch with all of them. In 1972 Clementina arrived in the United States with her daughter, Mirella, but it was after spending two years in Italy without her husband and son who came to America in 1970. She worked for many years at the Reliable Sprinkler Company in Mt Vernon. Clementina loved cooking, gardening and most importantly she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. As all who knew her, Clementina was known to be a devout Catholic praying to San Gerardo daily. For this reason, the family has asked that if anyone would like to continue her giving to San Gerardo, please donate to: St. Lucy’s Church, National Shrine of St. Gerard, 118 Seventh Ave, Newark NJ 07104. Clementina along with many local followers would make the annual pilgrimage to The Shrine yearly.
