Carol Ann Caragine, Ph.D., 81, passed away peacefully at home on September 30, 2022, surrounded by her loving husband and family.
A graduate of A.B. Davis High School in Mount Vernon and The College of New Rochelle, Carol then earned her Doctorate in Education from Teacher’s College, Columbia University. Carol was a lifelong educator who specialized in reading in the Yonkers public schools for over three decades. The methods she implemented in teaching were published in educational journals. Even after she retired at age 79, she continued to write and learn. Carol’s legacy is with the children and the adults that she taught and encouraged.
Carol was more than just a teacher as she always lent an ear and support to anyone in need. She also loved to draw, sing, and swim, especially with her children and grandchildren. Carol was an avid traveler and liked to visit her favorite shop owners in Bronxville. She enjoyed throwing or better yet attending a good party, particularly around the holidays. Her caring, generous, and kind spirit will be truly missed.
Carol was predeceased by her parents, Martha and Louis Miele, and her son, Frank. She is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Louis; her children, Margaret (Allen) Cavalluzzi, Louis (Robyn) Caragine, Theresa Caragine and her husband Thomas Voutsas, and Maria (Chris) Thompson; her grandchildren Crystal, Cassandra, Nico, Carl, Matthew, Annie, Joseph, Massimo, and Dante; and her sisters Gertrude and Patricia.
As Carol would always say, “We love you the whole world!”
