Callie Ray Bowens of Greenburgh, New York passed away
peacefully at home on May 14, 2023 at the age of 80
years old. He was born on January 14, 1943 in Gastonia,
North Carolina to William Bowens and Edna (Robbins)
Bowens, who both preceded his death.
Callie graduated from Gastonia High School in 1962. He
was employed as a press room supervisor at Gannett
newspaper. His career was interrupted when he was
drafted in the U.S. Army. After serving, he returned to
his position at Gannett until his retirement.
Callie and Carolyn were blessed to meet each other to
make their dreams become a reality. They married July
6 th , 1983 and enjoyed much success and happiness.
Callie enjoyed bowling, baseball, traveling, family and
friends.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife Carolyn
Carelock Bowens, his brother David Wilson, his sister
Hazel Williams, sister- in – law Barbara Ann Carelock
(Lawrence White), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins
and friends.
