Barbara White, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on February 14, 2026. Born on December 4, 1935, in New York, Barbara was the beloved daughter of the late Richard and Emily Quinn. She grew up in Woodlawn alongside her siblings, the late Joseph Quinn and the late Dorothy Briggi.
Barbara attended St. Barnabas Grammar School and was a proud graduate of St. Barnabas High School. In 1957, she married the love of her life, the late Jack White, at St. Barnabas Church. Together they shared nearly 69 beautiful years of marriage built on faith, devotion, laughter, and unwavering love.
Barbara was a devoted mother who lovingly raised four children: Theresa (Anthony), Susan (Joseph), Mary Ellen (Stephen), and John (Gina), who predeceased her in 2021. In later years as her children grew older she worked outside the home, but her greatest and proudest role was always that of wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She was a proud and loving grandmother to Nicole (Sam), Jaclyn (Thomas), Kevin, Gregory (Kailey), James (Stephanie), Emily (Tyler), and Gabrielle, each of whom brought her immeasurable joy. She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Teddy, Rory, Harry, Benjamin, Cameron, and Brody.
Barbara found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved playing cards, doing puzzles, reading (especially the newspaper), music and dancing, bowling, birdwatching, and spending time at the beach. Every single summer, her home was filled with family as children and grandchildren came to visit. Even the dogs came and she welcomed everyone with open arms and a full heart. She was known for keeping everything neat and organized, her wonderful sense of humor, and her enthusiasm for watching Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors. She delighted in good food and good company — especially her hot cup of coffee, cheesy eggs, bruschetta, a glass of red wine, and never turning down dessert.
Barbara’s warmth, strength, humor, and steadfast love created a legacy that will live on through the generations she so deeply cherished.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A Funeral Mass for Barbara will be held on Monday March 2nd, at 10:30 am at St. Barnabas Church 409 E. 241st St. Bronx, NY 10470
