Aracy Monteiro of Mt. Vernon died April 30, 2021 at the age of 91. She is survived by a son, Al Monteiro; daughters, Elvira Monteiro Leal and Maria Monteiro Neto; grandchildren, Christina, Andrew, Matthew, Amanda, Mario and Alex; great grandchildren Isabella, Andrew Noah, and Audrey. Aracy is predeceased by her husband Leonido Fernandes Monteiro and grandsons, Al and David.
Aracy was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and raised in Portugal. She and her husband, Leonido, came to the United States in 1963. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Aracy worked very hard all her life and everything she ever did was for her family. She was a woman of great faith and dedicated her life to prayer. Aracy will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Through the many lives she has touched, she leaves behind a legacy that will live on forever— one of love, humility, and faith in God.
Family will receive friends on Monday from 4-8 pm at Yannantuono Burr Davis Sharpe Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am Tuesday at Our Lady of Victory Church. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, offer a mass for her soul.
