Albin Bailey Obituary

Albin “Al” Owens Bailey Jr. completed his journey here on earth on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. After a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis and related infirmities, we rejoice in knowing that he is resting peacefully, in the hands of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Al, the youngest of two children, son and namesake of the late Albin Owens Bailey and Odessa Chapman Bailey, was born on June 23, 1949 in Manhattan, NY. Upon graduating from Richmond Hill High School he attended Howard University in Washington, DC where he received his Bachelor’s of Accounting in 1971 and started off on his long career as a Certified Public Accountant. Al worked for over 30 years in progressively senior roles at prestigious organizations such as KPMG and JP Morgan Chase.

It was at Howard that Al met his future bride, Valerie Linda Fleuranges of Mount Vernon, NY. The two took frequent trips up and down the 95 corridor together to visit their respective families. Upon graduation from college, the couple wed on September 4, 1971 at Sacred Heart Church. They eventually purchased a home in Mount Vernon where Al tackled numerous renovation projects over a 40-year period. The home is where the couple raised their two children; although, most weekends and summers were spent at their vacation home in The Hideout in Lake Ariel, PA.

Al was diagnosed with Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis in his late 40’s, which ultimately led to limited mobility. In his later years, Al enjoyed spending his days watching game shows, sports, and Westerns and catching up with friends reminiscing about past adventures. Al relocated to Virginia for a brief period in 2019 and again in the summer of 2022 to be closer to his daughter and her family.

Al is survived by his son, Albin “Albie” Owens Bailey III, and his wife Raphael Cameron; his daughter, Noelle Christine Lipscomb, and her husband Reginald Lipscomb; grandson, Lucas Lipscomb; granddaughters, Kiana Mann, Cameron and Adriana Bailey, and Liana and Laila Lipscomb; sister, Brenda Imrie; sisters-in-law, Irene Norman, Patrice Flowers and Renee Fleuranges-Valdes; brothers-in-law Jayson Imrie and Robert Valdes; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Al was predeceased by his wife and parents; parents-in-law Noel and Jeanne Fleuranges; and brothers-in-law Joseph Flowers and Henry Norman.
