Mildred Daphne Senior (nee Aunt Mel) fondly known as Ms. Daphne, Aunt Daff) was born to Alexander A. Callum and Abigail A. Callum in St. Ann, Jamaica. She was the last of eleven siblings. Miss Daphne, as she was called, was a very quiet, humble and caring woman. She was a seamstress who worked with her brother to make her living. She loved helping others especially those who did not have much. “Money is not all” was the main words from her mouth. “All your kids must go to school,“ she would also say. She was married to the love of her life, George Senior, who predeceased her in 2001. To her, everyone was her child, niece, nephew, step-daughter, step-son, god-daughter, god-son; they all belonged to her. She would always say, “love one, love all.” In 2005 she migrated to Mount Vernon, NY and worked as a lunch monitor and had the opportunity to make friends and treat each child as her own. She retired from this position in 2016. Mildred was predeceased by her daughter Joy Senior; six brothers: Harold Steele, Kenneth Callum, Raphael Callum, Algenal Callum, Alexander Callum and Llewelyn Callum, and four sisters: Fredrica Howell, Sylbet Callum, Isolyn Lawrence and Inez Averette. She always reminded us that family comes first and to love and share what we have with others. She leaves to cherish her memory: Daughters: Lenisse Leach, Hillary Thompson, Valrie Senior, Sharon Wallace, Audrey Senior, and Maureen Senior. Sons: Donald Senior, Desmond Senior, Errol Senior, Patrick Senior and Mikey Wright. Granddaughters: Lavern Blackwood, Ayesha Dennis, Crystal Collier, and Kimberly Senior; Grandsons: Nakia Tyrell and Desmond Senior (Jr) and her great grandchildren. She left us her legacy to carry on.
